Langley is home to a variety of annual events and festivals. Summer is prime-time, but not the only time visitors can enjoy island diversions. The fun begins in February with the annual Red Wine & Chocolate tour hosted by the Whidbey Vintners & Distillers Association. Langley's Murder Mystery Weekend is also held each February. April is the month of Welcome the Whales and Earth Day festivals, with Memorial Day and the PAWZ by the Sea 5K in May being the unofficial start of the summer season. Each June, Langley is host for the ChumRun and the South Whidbey Acoustic Music Festival. The July 4th weekend promises beach barbeques and family reunions island-wide, then the Choochokam Festival of the Arts is held the very next weekend. In August, come for the Whidbey Island Triathlon, the Queer Pride Parade, or the Whidbey Island Area Fair, which offers a real taste of rural life with horse games, carnival rides and so much more. In late August there is traditionally a local Whidbey Working Artists studio tour (island-wide, but with an annual contingent of Langley studios), and the Soup Box Derby, with Woodpalooza (an exhibition of local woodworkers) happening on the Labor Day weekend. In September, DjangoFest celebrates the art of gypsy jazz music, with performances, workshops, lessons and jam sessions happening all over Langley village, while the Tour de Whidbey (a benefit bike ride) passes through Langley on its island circuit. November brings a multitude of holiday markets and bazaars featuring products handmade by local artisans and craftspeople. Finally, the people of Langley cap the year off with December's annual Lighting of Langley celebration.
