2019 Season

BRYAN BURCH

(he/him, Playwright: Inferno; 1st Season with ISF) began his theatrical career playing the title character in a seventh grade production of The Life of Socrates. When it came time to drink the deadly vile of poison hemlock he literally choked - having not read the script prior to the performance - and cried out in preadolescent indignity and disbelief, “this isn’t fair, the hero never dies!” Since then, he spent a decade stage managing Andrew Lloyd Weber musicals on Broadway and touring with tap dancers in Germany. Inferno is his fourth commissioned play. The most recent was Treasure Island for Book-It Repertory Theatre. Next up; a theatrical exploration of immigration, colonialism and homecoming through a contemporary telling of Virgil’s Aeneid, and a look at the responsibility of aging gay men to society and their younger counterparts.
