Lily Simpson (she/her) | Composer: Romeo & Juliet (2nd season with ISF) is an Amsterdam based musician and composer. Nurtured by Whidbey island’s fertile artistic environment, Lily made her way to the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in the Netherlands to pursue music in a diverse and international setting. Lily has performed with ensembles such as the Amsterdam Wind Quintet, the Noord Netherlands Philharmonic, and has accompanied the principal cellist of the Munich Phil during an international classical festival. After obtaining her Bachelor’s degree from the Conservatory, Lily has gone on to explore the realm between classical roots and contemporary music, implementing modular synthesis and acoustic instruments to create a new sound in a nostalgic context. She incorporates this work along with her poetry at body electric, an interdisciplinary event in Amsterdam.
